A Downshifter In Search Of Peace Of Mind - Running A Swiss Mountain Cabin
Armin Braun‘s life seemed perfect: impressive career as EDP manager, big salary and free-time spent with friends and sport. A life in wealth and good order, but also logical and predetermined – and for Braun also entailing a strange boredom. The ex-manager is now leading a life as a dropout from society. In winter amongst shoemakers and casual employement, in summer as alpine dairy worker on the Swiss Büdemji Alm.
Braun is not the only soul on the farm fleeing from the ordinary urban life and together with fellow dropouts, he works 18 hours a day, from May till September, milking cows and helps producing a total amount of 400 pieces of mountain cheese. The camera team is documenting the daily life filled with tough physical work in solitude and idyllic scenery. A film about alpine farms, milk prices and mid-life crises. The Swiss version of therapy for disappointed and exhausted children of urban wealth.
